COMPLIMENT OTHERS

Look for genuine and sincere
opportunities to compliment others.

By taking a moment every day to enrich someone else’s life, you enrich your own as well.

The easiest way to make the world
a better place, is to be a better person.

We all have a desire to be acknowledged. When someone notices us, it changes the way we think about ourselves. It emboldens us. It can change our entire day—and much more. It can make us more satisfied and grateful—even more creative. This change in mindset can be especially significant in the workplace, where these feelings can make us more engaged and productive.

Compliments are a powerful source of motivation—and they’re free. They motivate not only the subject of the compliment—they motivate others as well. People strive to do that which brings recognition and praise. When you compliment one employee, other employees are alerted to the fact that you’re watching their performance and that they too can be recognized and rewarded for their superior performance.

Compliments can change the atmosphere in any environment by elevating moods, creating increased positivity, fostering interaction and improving communication. Don’t limit your compliments to one person or group. Look for opportunities to compliment others. And always make sure that your compliments are genuine and sincere. An insincere compliment is counter-productive—it will undermine trust.

Compliments are not only good for the recipients—they’re good for those who give them as well. When you compliment someone, their reaction has an immediate influence on you. It increases your self-confidence and self-esteem. You feel better about yourself—by making others feel better.

There is only one way to respond to a genuine and sincere compliment—graciously and gratefully.
